Preferential FTA treatment applies only to goods meeting each agreement's rules of origin. As of mid-2026, U.S. tariff overlays may apply in addition to or instead of FTA rates: a 10% Section 122 baseline tariff covers most imports (scheduled to expire July 24, 2026 unless extended or replaced), and Section 232 sectoral tariffs (steel, aluminum, automobiles) generally override FTA preferences.
