Trust & verification
Credibility in B2B sourcing is hard. Here is how we think about it.
Cross-border buyers face information asymmetry: distance, language, and fragmented data make it easy to mistake marketing for capability. Our verification and badges surface observable signals—not a substitute for your own legal, financial, or technical diligence.

How supplier verification works

"Verified" on Paisán means we completed a defined review against our process at a specific point in time—focused on who operates the profile, whether the listing is contactable and coherent, and whether catalog signals match what we expect for export-oriented suppliers. It is not a warranty of product quality, on-time delivery, or financial health, and it may not include an on-site factory audit unless we say so explicitly for a given program.

Verification can also draw on certifications or documents you submit; those checks are limited to what we can reasonably validate from the materials provided. Always pair platform signals with your own diligence (samples, references, and broker/regulatory checks) before scaling spend.

Directory Trust Score

On supplier profiles you may see a Trust Score (shown as a number out of 10) with expandable insight factors and the note: "Based on verified profile data and country context." This score reflects observable directory signals—profile content, automated external research, verification status, profile completeness, and country-level supply-chain context—not purchase history on Paisán. A separate country opportunity score (also out of 10) summarizes political, economic, regulatory, logistics, and quality risk for the supplier's country and industry.

Once orders become live on the platform, separate order-based metrics (on-time delivery, response time) may appear alongside the directory score. Until then, the Trust Score is our launch-time signal for comparing suppliers in the directory honestly, without implying performance we have not measured.

Walkthrough: how suppliers earn verification

Typical path for suppliers who are new to Paisán or upgrading an existing listing. Exact fields may vary by onboarding flow; this is the narrative buyers and suppliers share.

  1. 1

    Create your account

Register on Paisán and complete the basics of your company profile so buyers can understand who you are.

  2. 2

    Claim or connect your listing

If your business already appears in our directory, use the claim flow to connect your account to that supplier record. This is how we tie a real operator to a public profile.

    Start claim flow
  3. 3

    Submit business evidence

Provide accurate contact channels, website, and any documents we request (for example business registration or supporting files). Honest, complete data speeds up review.

  4. 4

    Internal review

Our team runs a structured pass focused on identity, contactability, and catalog signals—not on certifying quality or factory conditions for every SKU.

  5. 5

    Badge & ongoing accuracy

If approved, your profile may show verified signals and improved discovery placement. You are expected to keep information current; we may re-review if data drifts or issues are reported.

For buyers: how to read verification

  • Treat the badge as a starting signal, not proof that a shipment will match your spec.
  • Use the due diligence checklist below for what to validate with the supplier and your broker.
  • If something looks off, use contact to report safety concerns—include links and context where possible.

Trust badges & statuses

Verified supplier

We have completed a defined verification pass on identity, contactability, and catalog signals appropriate to our process at the time of review.

Profile completeness

Richer profiles (descriptions, categories, products, web presence) rank better in discovery and featured placements.

What Paisán may verify

  • Website and public contact channels
  • Business identity indicators tied to the profile
  • Product catalog presence and listing quality
  • Export-readiness cues (e.g. documentation, shipping language in profile)
  • Certifications when submitted and reviewable

What Paisán does not guarantee

  • Financial stability or solvency
  • On-time delivery or quality on your specific SKU
  • Compliance with every jurisdiction your goods may transit or be sold in
  • That a supplier will accept your MOQ, payment terms, or schedule

How scoring & ranking roughly work

Featured and comparison views combine verification, catalog depth, narrative quality, and platform participation. Weights can change as we improve data quality—always treat rankings as discovery aids, not endorsements.

Buyer due diligence checklist

  1. Request references in your product category (not generic testimonials).
  2. Align on specs, tolerances, QC checkpoints, and who pays for failed lots.
  3. Use samples to test packaging, labeling, and documentation—not only the product.
  4. Validate HS / regulatory path with your broker before scaling volume.
  5. Structure payment milestones that align with production and shipment gates.

For suppliers: improving trust

Complete your profile, keep products updated, respond promptly, and publish accurate lead times and capabilities. Verification and featured placement reward consistent, verifiable data. Start with the supplier verification walkthrough above if you are onboarding or reclaiming a listing.

Fraud & red flags

  • Pressure to move payments off-platform without contracts
  • Refusal of basic factory or video verification for large orders
  • Inconsistent company names across invoices, domains, and profiles
  • Unusually aggressive discounts tied to upfront full payment

Report suspicious behavior through contact — we review platform safety issues seriously.

Trust FAQ

How to interpret verification on Paisán.

How do suppliers get verified on Paisán?

Suppliers typically create an account, connect or claim their listing, submit business details and any requested documents, and pass our internal review. See the step-by-step walkthrough on this page for the full story.

Does verified mean you inspected the factory?

Not necessarily. Verification reflects our process at a point in time and may include remote checks. Onsite audits are a separate buyer decision.

Can verification lapse?

Yes. Suppliers must keep profiles accurate. We may re-review or adjust visibility if data drifts or issues are reported.

Where should I start if I'm new to sourcing?

Use featured and comparison tools as discovery aids, then run your own diligence checklist. Pair profiles with country guides and product-specific compliance checklists when you narrow candidates.
